Initiatives to protest against proposed cuts

Published on 09-10-2024 15:00
The government has announced the biggest cuts to higher education since the 1980s. Demonstrations to protest against the cuts are being organised by WOinActie, LSVb and UNL, among others. The Executive Board supports these initiatives: it is important that we make ourselves heard, in person and online.

Would you also like to take part in one of the initiatives? The UvA provides the space for this:

  • Staff and students who want to go to The Hague or Utrecht to make themselves heard should feel free to do so: these actions are about protecting the future of our education and research.
  • For students, there will be no attendance requirement on that day, unless they are involved in patient care. Catching up on missed material is the student's own responsibility.
  • Employees who wish to join the action should discuss this with their supervisor.
  • Lecturers who want to join the action must ensure that all course material is still covered before the end of the course. Make sure your students are in agreement with his.
  • Scheduled exams will go ahead.
  • Travel expenses cannot be claimed.
