The UvA keeps a record of your personal details as sent by the BRP. You can change your first name(s), surname and gender details via your local municipality.

What is your study programme?
Changes to official first name(s), surname or gender are automatically recorded in Studielink and SIS once the details have been changed in the Personal Records Database (BRP).
This means that to change your official first name(s), surname or gender details you will usually need to make an appointment with your local municipality.
Check whether you can change your information yourself
Log in on Studielink and go to the tab ‘Details’ to see the verification status of your information:
- Personal details not verified (checked):
You can change your personal details yourself via Studielink. Change the incorrect personal details. - Personal details verified (checked) by the BRP:
To change your personal details, make an appointment with the local municipality. The change is sent to Studielink automatically from the Personal Records Database (BRP). - Personal details verified (checked) by the UvA:
Submit the changes via Studielink. If you are unable to do this, please contact us via this form to change your personal details.
