The assistance provided by the Emergency Fund is intended for students or doctoral candidates with limited financial means. You must be making sufficient progress with your study and the situation must be acute, incidental, of limited scope and resolvable.

    Emergency situations

The purpose of the Emergency Fund is to alleviate emergency situations that are:

    • acute - they cannot be resolved via other means (student finance, the graduation fund or special assistance) at the time of the occurrence of the emergency situation
    • not repeated, permanent or structural emergency situations
    • limited in scope (no large sums of money are involved)
    • resolvable - one-off assistance will make a realistic and effective solution possible.

The financial assistance provided is a gift that needn't be repaid.

    Grants for Surinamese students

The Emergency Fund is used to finance, among other things, 5 grants for Surinamese students.

    How to apply

If you'd like to apply for assistance from the Emergency Fund, make an appointment to see a student counsellor. The student counsellor will submit an application and supporting documents to a committee of 3 other student counsellors, who will check that the application meets the fund criteria and assess whether or not it can be approved. Applications for incidental assistance will be dealt with in just one week.
