The UvA strategy
A new strategic plan is drawn up every 6 years. This process is carried out with, by and for the entire UvA community. What kind of university do we want to be and what kind of university can we be? These are the central questions guiding the development of a new UvA strategy.
Why are we developing a new strategy?
The UvA must respond to technological, climatic, geopolitical, cultural and socio-economic developments. As a university, we’re faced with the task of making clearer choices. How do we ensure that the UvA remains a place for independent, high-quality academic teaching and research — not just today, but also in 10 or 20 years’ time? That’s something we must decide together. To create a strategy that truly reflects the UvA, we need ideas and perspectives from across the academic community.
Student input
We want to know what you, as a student, consider important for the future of the UvA so we can set the direction together.
We’re gathering input from students, staff and external stakeholders. The core team will process these insights, draft the strategy and validate it in consultation with the UvA organisation. The Executive Board will then formally adopt the strategy; this is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
Get involved and contribute
Would you like to share your ideas? You can do so by participating in surveys and discussion sessions that will be organised to gather your perspective. Keep an eye on UvA channels for dates and locations.
